With version 3.07 LTS (Long-term support) of the transport management system (TMS) CarLo, available as of June 2026, we provide an update that is directly focused on long-term stability, increased performance and the use of artificial intelligence.

Particularly against the backdrop of the spike in hardware costs–especially in the area of RAM, where prices have in some cases increased fivefold compared to last year–efficiency at the software level is becoming increasingly important. To counter this development, we have specifically optimised memory usage and performance. As a result, in many cases no additional hardware is required, meaning that existing servers can continue to be used cost-effectively in the long term.

 

What does long-term support (LTS) mean and what are its advantages?

An LTS version is a long-term support version. This means that the version receives bug fixes, security updates and technical support over an extended period. As a result, businesses benefit from a particularly stable and future-proof software foundation, without having to switch to new versions at short notice. This simplifies planning, reduces maintenance efforts and ensures reliable operation in day-to-day use.

How much faster is CarLo 3.07? –Performance and memory usage compared

This is complemented by the integrated driver and vehicle planning functionality, which enables both complex shift and deployment planning and truck/trailer planning to be managed efficiently.

The communication along the transport chain is also improved: With CarLo Connect Driver Link, the solution for digital driver communication, dispatchers and drivers can exchange information quickly and easily–regardless of whether they are in-house drivers or subcontractors. This does not require any app, training or configuration. A smartphone is enough to exchange texts, photos and documents regarding a transport with a driver. Additionally, a live translation functionality is available for the simple communication without language barriers.

How does AI support the work in CarLo?

In the new TMS version, the integrated AI assistant has been extended comprehensively. AI no longer merely assists users in searching for information, but can also actively carry out tasks within the software.

AI assistant: Execute actions directly in CarLo

For example, the AI assistant can open dialogues, create data records or support the user in different work steps. That way, you can complete recurring tasks faster and simplify work processes.

Prompt to data: Creating structured data from text entries

With the “Prompt to data” function, you can automatically structure information based on simple text entries and process them further in the system. Users no longer need to process the data manually. Instead, they can provide contents directly via text entry.

Prompt to filter: Creating filters using natural language

The new “Prompt to filter” function allows you to create filter settings using a simple full-text entry. AI automatically translates the description of the user into the appropriate filter configuration within CarLo. That way, you can find desired information quicker without needing to manually configure complex filters.

Future-proof AI integration

CarLo 3.07 creates the basis for an even stronger usage of artificial intelligence in the transport and logistics sector. The new functions support companies in speeding up processes, reducing operation efforts and making routine tasks more efficient.

With the AI assistant, “Prompt to data” and “Prompt to filter”, CarLo 3.07 provides three integrated AI functions that cover the most important work steps in the daily business–from data entry to filter search and the navigation in the software. Additionally, CarLo 3.07 provides its own MCP server for the integration of external AI solutions such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot or n8n–more about that in the next section.

What can the new MCP server do–and how secure is it?

CarLo 3.07 LTS also includes a dedicated MCP server (Model Context Protocol), which is integrated into the new Application Server. MCP is an established standard for the integration of AI applications and external systems and is supported by numerous platforms nowadays.

This will allow CarLo to be connected directly to modern AI solutions and automation platforms in future–for example, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, n8n or development environments such as VSCode. Depending on the user rights, the AI is granted direct access to defined functions and data within CarLo. That way, you can, for example, automatically create transport orders, access Master Data, process files intelligently or directly exchange information between AI applications and CarLo. This creates entirely new possibilities for the automation of workflows and the integration of AI into existing processes.

Particular emphasis was placed on security and rights management: The CarLo MCP server supports OAuth2 and completely applies the existing user rights from CarLo. The connected AI can therefore only access the data and functions that have actually been made available to the respective user.

CarLo 3.07 LTS is thus already laying the technological foundations for an open, agent-based and AI-supported system landscape of the next generation.

 

What other improvements does the update bring?

In addition to the new features, the existing system architecture has also been specifically enhanced. CarLo 3.07 brings improvements in various areas:

  • Optimised map function: The map view has been completely redesigned and now offers significantly better performance and improved visualisation.
  • Improved TIMOCOM integration: In particular, business partner communication has been further expanded, making collaboration with external partners even easier and more efficient.
  • Improved air and sea freight connections: Existing functions have been expanded to provide even better support for international transport processes.
  • Expansion of interfaces: Enhancements to connections with ports and systems such as DAKOSY ensure smoother handling of international shipments.
