Efficient restart: Brantner digitises with CarLo

The Brantner group was founded in Krems an der Donau (Austria) in 1936 and is now run by the third generation. Brantner Transport GmbH currently has approx. 40 employees in planning and administration as well as 150 drivers. Its fleet consists of 50 international and 20 national vehicles.

A fully owned subsidiary is STL Logistics GmbH.

Decision made with conviction
and fast implementation at Brantner

For several decades, Brantner Transport GmbH had been using a software from an Austrian company. A lot of special programming and many specifications took place over the years. Despite the software, a lot of data was still recorded manually and all employees had numerous own lists in addition to the system. That was time-consuming and not a viable solution for the future. The company thus searched for a new TMS.

In spring 2023, the fleet manager Alexander Ulrich read a trade journal article about the software company Soloplan. He subsequently spoke to many other Austrian companies which have already been working with the Soloplan software CarLo for a long time. Thus, he had the possibility to take a look at the program in advance and exchange views with enthusiastic users.

“I was quickly convinced and have not heard anything bad about Soloplan so far,”, says Alexander Ulrich.

The decision was quickly made that Soloplan was to become the new digitisation partner. Implementation started in August 2024 and only five months later, the software go-live already took place at Brantner. Today, nearly 30 users work with the system.

Boundless possibilities
and a customisable solution thanks to the TMS CarLo

After three months only, Brantner Transport GmbH noticed a significant reduction of effort. In the interview, Alexander Ulrich explains that he is impressed by the fact that you can incorporate your own individual wishes into the program yourself. With the company’s previous system, this often turned out to be difficult or even impossible.

“I was really impressed by how much the program can do. I couldn’t imagine that everything was possible in one single program and that I didn’t need any additional programs,”, says Alexander Ulrich.

Transparency, automation and time savings

Brantner Transport GmbH has been specialising in efficient transport logistics and scheduled relay transport operations for decades. Especially for the latter, driver exchanges are the standard, meaning that a large portion of the loadings recur every day. In the previous system, every single transport had to be planned again every day. This process has been significantly optimised by using the TMS CarLo by Soloplan. Automatic tour allocations and order templates allow for huge time savings of 30 minutes per employee and day–for 25 users, almost 13 hours can be saved.

Thanks to the complete implementation of an electronic archiving system by a third-party provider, the filing of documents in the order has become easier as well. Furthermore, the statistics area is much clearer and the orders from Transporeon are also directly synchronised into the program.

Another highlight for the fleet manager is CarLo inMOTION. With this module, the company finally has a transparent and coherent solution for the fleet management, where everything is visible at a glance and where you can configure your own tables and filters.

Knowledge, development and future

Alexander Ulrich also uses the wide range of knowledge transfer offered by Soloplan: Whether academies, webinars or the knowledge base SoloDoc–the comprehensive possibilities of further training allow him to continually expand his know-how of the logistics software CarLo.
Further development and innovation are another important aspect for Brantner Transport GmbH. Especially in the software sector, this is the driving force for the continuous adaptation to the requirements of the sector in a changing world of logistics.

“You never stand still and you are very innovative”, emphasises Alexander Ulrich.

He particularly looks forward to the implementation of the recently introduced feature “Document Intelligence”–an AI-supported text recognition feature allowing, for example, for the automatic reading of orders from PDF files and e-mail bodies and their creation in the system. With this feature, Alexander Ulrich sees the potential for further time savings of 30 minutes per employee and day. Thus, all users will be able to save a total of 26 hours per day in the future.

Soloplan and Brantner Transport GmbH/STL Logistics GmbH look forward to a positive and long-time cooperation and partnership.
